Will & Nan Grant
"..Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure, in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the Lord loves rests between his shoulders." Deuteronomy 33:12
Our year has been one of discovering how to rest between the shoulders of God and listen to HIS heartbeat. As one, we have finally begun to find God’s rhythm for our lives.
Resting in between God’s Shoulders:
Will is working as an A&P Mechanic for Hillsboro Aviation. In his “free time” he is diligently honing his flight skills for his Technical Evaluation with MAF this fall. This spring, God brought the perfect job for Nan. She is now working as the Port Kids Director of Westport Church. It is amazing to watch as God has perfectly laid out the details in our lives. God daily uses the skills HE gave us – Will as a pilot/mechanic and Nan as a teacher – to further HIS kingdom.
God’s Heartbeat:
Our desire is to serve God throughout the world and spread HIS love with no boundaries. We desire to gather partners throughout the world to support us prayerfully and financially so the world may know the truth and life found in God alone.
We know that whatever God has designed for our future, HE will make possible. We desire to take God’s love to the world: to the abandoned, forgotten and hopeless. No matter what God intends for our lives, we will go. Our lives are not our own… we belong to Christ.
FUTURE MISSIONARY PILOTS - FINISHING THEIR TRAINING
The reason ServantWings exists.
Eric & Kristine Reed
We joined Servant Wings in 2008 to help Eric build the flight time and experience he needs to join Mission Aviation Fellowship as a Pilot/IT combo. Eric has his commercial license and finished his instrument rating with Servant Wings. Eric is attending Portland Community College to complete an IT (Informational Technology) program. Kristine has her teaching degree and hopes to use it in the future on the field. We are excited to be part of Servant Wings because it not only allows Eric to build flight and mechanical experience, but also puts us in touch with a great group of mentors to help us along the path to missions. We're currently expecting our first child in September and working to prepare for our MAF (Mission Aviation Fellowship) technical evaluation in October 2010.
Grant Kainu
I joined Servant wings in 2009 to gain the flight training and mechanical experience needed to apply to MAF as a pilot/mechanic candidate. I chose Servant Wings because in my opinion they: flat out offer the best mentorship, accountability, training and overall guidance out of any other flight training organization I’ve seen available in the area. They also have a strong focus on Christ and goal of prepping students to join a mission aviation organization. Currently I am wrapping up my private pilot’s license (this fall) and plan to continue to work towards my commercial license and instrument rating. Starting January 2010 I will attend PCC Hillsboro’s A&P program to work on my mechanic skills.
Ford Wright
I have always had a passion for flying, but I am continually in awe of where God has taken me in this journey. After high school, I applied to the Air Force Academy - four years, two community colleges, and two states later, I was attending Multnomah Bible College instead. Over that time, God grew an incredible desire in me to serve as a Missionary Aviator. I am with Servant Wings because of their excellent tailored flight training for the missions field as I hope to join MAF and serve where needed. I am currently working on that goal by continuing at my A&P mechanic school and some flight training as of this August. All during which, I am working on raising support to fund the required flight time.
Mike and Angie Johnson
We joined Servant Wings in the Fall of 2009. I have been an aircraft mechanic for four years at a local regional airline and my wife Angie watches our 2 year old son Colton and our niece during the week. We are eagerly awaiting the addition of a baby girl to our family in October. Angie's flexibility and understanding have been invaluable as I continue my training. I am a private pilot halfway through my instrument rating and building hours towards my commercial certificate. Servant Wings has been a great avenue to finish the rest of my training as well as gaining more maintenance experience on the Cessna 206 which I hope to fly and maintain on the field. Along with gaining more experience myself I have been able to share some of my experience with the other candidates. Servant Wings has been a great avenue for training as well as providing us with great mentors who are able to share their experiences with us and encourage us along the way. We both share a love of everything aviation and look forward to serving God in this field. We are seeking God's guidance as to which organization he would have us join.
